Causes of dog itching

One of the causes of a dog's itchy skin is known as dermatitis, dermatitis is an aliment in dogs whose symptom is persistent itching by the dog, this illness is like a fever in human

but the dogs respond by constant scratching their bodies. The month of August and September is usually the time whereby most dogs are infected with this type of illness thus you have to be very watchful and observe your dog very well during these months.

Allergies are another factor that is responsible for dog itching, this could be as a result of the changes you have made in the house or the type of detergent used in cleaning the carpet or you just bought a new shampoo then decide to use it on your dog he might be allergic to all of this thus he results to body scratching.

The type of food given to your pet is another cause of itching in dogs, there is a certain types of food you should allow your dog to eat this will have a serious reaction on them thus leading to itching and body scratching

Fleas are also causative while pets are always scratching their bodies, though fleas do not necessarily cause the scratching the saliva and the bite from those fleas to result in irritation on the body of the pet which leads to constant dog itching skin.

Another cause that is been ignored by so many dog owners is overbathing the dog, though nothing is wrong with bathing the dog when you overdo it with the shampoo,

the chemical in which such shampoo is being made off does affect the skin of the dog thereby wearing off natural oils in the body of the dog, in reaction results in body scratching.

Tips on how to prevent and stop dog itching.

One of the best and most natural ways of dealing with this issue is to feed the dog nutritious food this will help build a high resistive body immune system in the dog.

Also, foods that are made up of vitamin E,   Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids (fish oil) must be included in the food given to the pet has this set of food have ingredients capable of stopping and preventing skin itching in dogs.

Since fleas are one of the major causes of this illness thus it is necessary to avoid this, by bathing your pet always and making use of shampoo which s a good disinfectant.

When using shampoo make sure they are completely washed off the body of the pet because if there are any remains in the dog’s body this will lead to continued scratching.

Most times scratching in dogs are natural, if in the morning you notice the scratching and later at noon the same itching is still on and you can not pinpoint the main cause of the body itching, it is advisable to take the pet to the vet for proper examination and medication that will eliminate the itching in your dog.
