Seizures in dogs are caused when the dog eats food or substance that is not compatible with the body system, though not all seizures can be caused as a result of the food eaten by the dog. 

Other natural situations can lead to dog seizures example dogs suffering from epilepsy, will suffer from this disease. 

Though epilepsy is one of the main causatives, and it is believed by many that it is a result of some form of neurological disorderliness in the brain, this imbalance in the brain tissues thus receives abnormal impulses which are sent to the muscles in the body, the body reacts to this abnormality by jerking and convulsing.

Causes of seizures in dogs

Hereditary plays an important role in this situation there is some dog breed that is prone to these seizures such as the Beagle, Collie etc all of these breeds have hereditary traits of such seizures, it is a feature they inherit from other dogs of the same species and now been passed down to some breeds of dog, this condition is natural.

Another cause of seizure in dogs could be a result of a brain tumour, this tumour exerts pressure on a certain part of the brain thereby making him lose his sight while in other cases harming his coordination

If your dog had been involved in any form of an accident whereby his head was affected this is another cause of such disorderliness, found been displayed by some dogs, thus an accident that affects the crannies of the pet can as well affect the brain tissues also this can lead to constant seizures in dogs.

There are some environmental substances such as chemicals and toxins that have a strong smell this can affect your dog and causes such dog seizures, some household chemicals such as paint, and cleaning agents are often the major cause.

There are some food that when eaten by dogs can as well be a factor for these seizures to occur, foods such as chocolates, onions, nutmeg, mushroom etc all these foods mentioned do contribute to such illness in most dogs

Parasites and diseases can as well result in such ailment if left untreated for some time, there are some parasite infection that shows up in symptoms with sign of seizures which normally affects the nervous system of the dog thereby leading to the convulsing of the pet.

Treatments for Seizures in Dogs
In case of the food eaten by your dog results in these seizures, the use of anti-seizure medication is the best treatment you can give to your dog. 

Also, you must take a proper observation of the kind of food your pet feed and make sure he must not eat any food that can lead to seizures.

Some vaccines can be taken that can prevent future occurrence of this disease, make sure such vaccines is been given to the dog and make sure to avoid all substances and products that can cause such illness to your pet.

Dogs affected by bacteria and parasites should be treated on time to prevent further complications if there are no changes then you need to visit the vet for proper examination.
